Monica Madeja Joins NECN as Reporter
Emmy-nominated journalist Monica Madeja has joined New England Cable News as a reporter. Monica made her debut on the regional news network last week.
Monica comes to Boston from duopoly WBRE-TV NBC/WYOU-TV CBS in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania. During her five years at the Nexstar-owned station, Monica anchored Eyewitness News at Daybreak, the station’s morning newscast. She also reported for the segments A Little Buddy and Buddy Check, which focused on children up for adoption and the fight against breast cancer, respectively. In March 2014, Monica was named one of the Top 25 Women in Business in Northeast Pennsylvania. Monica was nominated for an Emmy award in 2013 for her reporting on WBRE’s 11pm newscast.
Before working in Pennsylvania, Monica was the morning anchor for KRCG-TV CBS 13 in Columbia, Missouri. She also worked as a multi-media journalist for the station and reported for the “Crimetracker” franchise.
Monica got her on-air start at WDEL 1150AM in Wilmington, Deleware as an anchor and reporter. She started her career as a desk assistant for KYW NewsRadio 1060AM in Philadelphia.
Monica graduated from Temple University in Philadelphia in 2006 with a Bachelor of Arts in Broadcast Journalism.
