The June ratings period ended on Wednesday, and the results are here! How did your favorite Boston station do this month?
Mornings: The morning news race was one again dominated by WCVB & WFXT, with WFXT winning at 4am and 4:30am. The station also narrowly beat Good Morning America in the 7-9am timeslot, achieving a score that was 0.07 points ahead of GMA. WCVB’s EyeOpener achieved the highest ratings at 5am and 6am, with the 6am hour having the highest rating out of any newscast in the A25-54 demographic. WHDH & WBZ finished in 3rd and 4th place overall respectively.
Noon: The noon newscast was also an extremely close race. WCVB & WHDH finished with a 0.9, but WCVB’s score was 0.07 points ahead of WHDH’s. WBZ finished with a 0.4 rating.
Evenings: WCVB continued its dominance during the early evening newscats, achieving a 1.6 rating at 5pm. WHDH followed with a 1.3, followed by WBZ with a 0.8 and WFXT with a 0.6. WCVB received the highest ratings at 6pm with a 2.3, followed by WHDH with a 1.3, WFXT with a 1.1, and WBZ with a 0.9.
Late News: WFXT had the highest rated newscasts in the late news category. In the Monday-Friday late news category, WFXT’s 10pm newscast finished first with a 2.1 rating, followed by WFXT’s 11pm newscast with a 1.9, WHDH’s 11pm newscast with a 1.8, WCVB’s 11pm newscast with a 1.5, WBZ’s 11pm newscast with a 0.6, WHDH’s 10pm newscast on WLVI with a 0.6, and WBZ’s 10pm newscast on WSBK with a 0.4. WFXT lead at 11pm, followed by WHDH, WCVB, and WBZ respectively.
WCVB achieved the highest ratings across every newscast in the Household and Total Viewers categories.
